Volunteer Week 2025 – celebrating the heart of BIAS

Volunteer Week is always a special time for us at the Brent Irish Advisory Service – a chance to reflect and celebrate our incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and kindness to support our work and the wider community.

We kicked the week off in style on Monday 2nd June with our Summer Volunteer Garden Party – and what a lovely day it was! The sun was shining, and it was the perfect setting for an afternoon of laughter, community and a bit of friendly competition! We played a fun ‘How well do you know your charity’ trivia quiz, and volunteers took home goodie bags as a small token of thanks.

Then on Thursday 5th June, we were proud to attend the Irish in Britain Volunteer Awards – a wonderful evening recognising the hard work and impact of volunteers across the country. We were absolutely thrilled to see our Brent Active Ageing Club volunteers named Runners-Up in the Group Award category. Their dedication to supporting older members of our community through weekly activities, social events and friendship makes a real and lasting difference. This recognition was so well deserved.

Throughout the year, our volunteers are there – rain or shine, on the phones, in the office, setting up tea and cake, supporting service users, and bringing warmth and compassion to everything they do. Some have been with us for years, others just recently joined – but every single one of you is part of the BIAS community.

To all BIAS volunteers – thank you for making our community great. You don’t just give your time – you give your heart, and our community is better because of it.

If you’d like to become a volunteer and be part of our amazing community, we’d love to hear from you! Visit our Volunteer Page or email us at volunteers@biasbrent.co.uk to get started.

From all of us at BIAS – go raibh míle maith agaibh. Thank you a thousand times.
