Be-a-friend
Are you looking for a friendly face to chat over a cup of tea? If so, you are welcome to our be-a-friend service.
What does the service offer?
1. Be-a-friend visits
Our Be-a-friend service aims to connect volunteers with older people who live on their own. Our coordinator will personally introduce them, and the volunteer will visit, usually each week, perhaps for a cup of tea, sharing news, going for a walk, or playing cards – just like a good friend would!
2. Telephone befriending
Our dedicated volunteers will regularly call to connect with our elders who are known to the project and are not currently being visited.
Who can benefit from the service?
Our service is tailored for individuals who are over 60 years old and living alone.
Who are the befriending volunteers?
Our befriending volunteers are chosen by our coordinator. They are DBS checked and receive continuous training and support to ensure the highest quality of service for all our users.
How to access the service?
